The North American COVID-19 ST Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NACMI) International Registry

NACMI was a unique collaboration between ACC, SCAI and CAIC (Canadian Association of Interventional Cardiologists) that represents the largest registry for COVID+ STEMI patients. These patients had a significantly higher mortality than typical STEMI patients including higher prevalence in diabetics with marked racial differences. These patients had markedly more thrombotic lesions, were more likely to have “no Culprit” as well as “multiple Culprit” and had unique pathophysiology for the development of STEMI.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the rationale and design of the NACMI registry and the impact COVID-19 had on STEMI activations.
  • Review patient and angiographic characteristics in STEMI patients with COVID-19.
  • Discuss and increase awareness of the outcomes of STEMI patients with COVID-19 and the changing trends over time.
