Over the past century, many medical practices have transitioned from being an independent physician operated practice to corporate-owned provider model. There is a perception that corporate medicine increases overall healthcare costs without increasing quality. There are many reports of increasing medical provider frustration and dissatisfaction resulting from decreased autonomy as well as pressure to focus on profit margins and less on patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss how best to align corporate goals with patient-directed healthcare goals.
  • Identify strategies to uphold quality improvement efforts in the face of corporate change and cost restrictions.
  • Recognize tactics to improve provider morale in the face of corporate medicine.
