Wayne Batchelor, M.D., M.H.S, F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I.
Dr. Wayne Batchelor is the Director of Interventional Cardiology and Associate Director of the Inova Schar Heart and Vascular Institute in Fairfax, VA. He also serves as Professor of Medicine (adjunct) at Duke University, Co-Chair of the NCDR STS/TVT Registry Steering Committee and Chair of the American College of Cardiology's (ACC) Interventional Sectional Leadership Council. Dr. Batchelor’s clinical and research interests include complex/high risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), cardiogenic shock, structural heart disease and health care disparities. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed original abstracts/manuscripts, multiple book chapters, participated in over 160 clinical trials and served on several national/international clinical trial steering committees. Dr. Batchelor recently served as National Co-Principal Investigator of the PLATINUM Diversity study and is National Principal Investigator of the ALERT trial, a randomized trial evaluating the effectiveness of cardiac intelligence software in detecting undertreated aortic stenosis. He currently serves on the editorial boards of Circulation, the Journal of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine, is a frequent Guest-Editor for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and a special government employee and consultant to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) within the Cardiovascular Devices Branch with an interest in improving patient diversity in clinical trials.
