Manager, Cardiac Services APPs , Transitions of Care, and Accreditation Program
HMH JFK University Medical Center
Edison, New Jersey, United States
Hello, my name is Charyl Asuncion and I am an Adult Nurse Practitioner specializing in cardiology at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Saint Louis University, Philippines and later earned my Masters of Science degree from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. I worked for JFK as a registered nurse for over 10 years transitioning from my role as a bedside nurse to an Assistant Nurse Manager for a telemetry unit. Cardiology has always been my passion and shortly after obtaining my MSN degree I joined a private Cardiology practice. In 2016, I was offered the opportunity to join JFK's Cath Lab department to help build a Cardiovascular Center of Excellence program. Over the past 6 years, I have helped lead the journey of attaining and maintaining our Chest Pain Center, Cardiac Cath Lab, Heart Failure and Heart Care Center accreditations and in 2022 helped implement an APP led Closed Observation Unit as well as a post discharge Cardiovascular Clinic to help improve 30 day readmission rates in our HF and MI population. Teaching is one of my passions, I am actively involved in community outreach programs to help disseminate information on management and prevention of heart disease. My current role is demanding but I feel extremely fulfilled knowing that I help make a difference in the quality of care we deliver to our Cardiac patients everyday.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
